Beacons beat Penobscot behind impressive goalkeeping debut

PORTLAND—Isabelle Watson was nervous and didn't know what to expect, but the Deering High School freshman couldn't have asked for more from her varsity goalkeeping debut Thursday evening at Troubh Ice Arena.

Watson and her teammates on the Beacons co-op squad, which includes players from Deering, Cape Elizabeth, South Portland and Waynflete, hosted the Penobscot Pioneers, who consist of players from Bangor, Brewer, Hampden Academy, John Bapst, Old Town and Orono, in a key late-season contest.

And thanks in large part to Watson's steady performance, the Beacons got back in the win column.
