Cheverus girls ride second half surge to stun South Portland

PORTLAND—For a quarter-and-a-half Friday evening at Keegan Gymnasium, South Portland's girls' basketball team looked like a squad coming off a state championship and ready to win another.

But the host Cheverus Stags had seen about enough of the Red Riots pushing them around and what resulted over the game's final two-and-a-half quarters was something else entirely.
