Cheverus girls pass another early test, pull away to beat Sanford

PORTLAND—What a start for Cheverus' girls' basketball team.

A week ago, prior to hosting reigning state champion South Portland in the season opener, the Stags featured a few known quantities and several question marks.

Fast forward to Friday night at Keegan Gymnasium, where Cheverus produced an abundance of positive answers in an early-season showdown versus Sanford.

And the end result was a third straight victory.
