SACO—A cursory glance at the final Class A South boys' soccer Heal Points standings might have suggested that the Deering Rams weren't going to be a factor this postseason.

Guess again.

And that doesn't exactly come as a surprise to those who know this region best.

Or to those who are familiar with Deering's recent playoff history.

Saturday evening at Hill Stadium, the ninth-ranked Rams began what they hope is a Cinderella-type run by upsetting No. 8 Thornton Academy in a preliminary round showdown.
