FREEPORT—Freeport's girls' lacrosse team had to overcome the weight of history when it hosted Greely Thursday evening at the Joan Benoit Samuelson Track and Field.

The weight of history and much more.

The Rangers gave the Falcons fits once again, leading much of the way, and making matters even more difficult, Freeport had to play much of the second half without senior standout Lana DiRusso.

But this edition of the Falcons proved to be different, as they overcame adversity and earned the type of victory that just might eventually lead to the championship that eluded them a year ago.
