Gorham dashes Cheverus' title dream, returns to state final

PORTLAND—A rabid crowd at Keegan Gymnasium gathered to witness a changing of the guard.

But it didn't happen.

As instead, a three-peat dream continues.

Wednesday evening, in a highly-anticipated Class A state semifinal, No. 2 Cheverus welcomed No. 3 Gorham, the two-time reigning champion, in the biggest match in program history.

But the Stags weren't able to celebrate at the end.

Because the Rams, yet again, rose to the occasion with their season on the line.
