Greely's miracle rally produces first state title in a decade

Sometimes you have to endure agony to truly appreciate ecstasy.
Sometimes, you've just got to believe.
And sometimes, the baseball gods are simply on your side.
The Greely Rangers, one year removed from arguably the most painful loss in program history, got to taste the other end of the spectrum Saturday afternoon at Mahaney Diamond at the University of Maine in Orono.
Capping a transcendent season and a week chock-full of drama with a victory that will never, ever be forgotten.
A comeback for the ages to stun Ellsworth, 6-5 in the Class B state final.
A comeback which saw Greely score four times with two outs in the top of the seventh inning.
A comeback which wiped away a decade's worth of what-ifs, close calls and tears.
"In the practices leading to the game, I kept tell them, it was going to be the greatest story ever told," said longtime Rangers' coach Derek Soule. "It wasn't the script I had in mind, but it ended up being the greatest story, at least in my 25 years."
