New-look Stags still sport that special something
Last November, Cheverus' field hockey team celebrated its third Class A state title in four seasons. Graduation took a heavy toll on the program, but don't write the 2025 Stags off just yet. Contributed photos.

Cheverus' juggernaut field hockey team might be without some familiar names this fall, but the Stags still expect to steal headlines in the weeks to come.

Lucy Johnson, the reigning Miss Maine Field Hockey award winner, and arguably the finest player in state history, is now at Boston University.

Five other key contributors from the 2024 Class A state championship squad have graduated as well, while Caroline Rousseau, a two-year standout, has moved on to prep school.

For most programs, that would be devastating.

For Cheverus, it just elevates the degree of difficulty and this year's squad is eager to rise to the challenge.

And capture another shiny trophy.
