Portland upsets Sanford to reach regional final

PORTLAND—Regardless of your seed, it's easy to win when you never trail.

And so far this tournament, the sixth-ranked Portland boys' basketball team hasn't been behind for a single, solitary second.

That trend continued Thursday evening at the Portland Exposition Building against the second-seeded Sanford Spartans in the Class A South semifinals.

And as a result, the Bulldogs are now, improbably, a win away from the state championship game.
