South Portland girls ride dynamic duo past Gorham, extend win streak

SOUTH PORTLAND—The above line, from Tennessee Ernie Ford's classic song, "Sixteen Tons," perfectly illustrates just what the Gorham girls' basketball team found itself up against Thursday evening at Beal Gymnasium.

As the host South Portland Red Riots boasted a pair of players who knocked out the Rams' upset hopes.

Senior Caleigh Corcoran got the job done early, junior Annie Whitmore was unstoppable in the middle, then Corcoran helped slam the door on South Portland's ninth consecutive victory.
