Cheverus girls avenge state game loss, beat South Portland for shot at state title

PORTLAND—The two regular season victories were great and all, but Cheverus' girls' basketball team felt as though it hadn't completely avenged last year's state final loss to South Portland.

It's safe to say that Saturday evening's win over the Red Riots in the Class A South Final at the Cross Insurance Arena did the trick.

And the Stags are now one win away from securing a Gold Ball of their own.
