Cheverus outlasts Greely in interclass showdown

PORTLAND—Cheverus' volleyball team hasn't made life easy on Gary Powers lately, but the Stags' coach has had a front-row seat for some palpitating victories.

Perhaps too palpitating for the veteran mentor.

Tuesday evening at Keegan Gymnasium, five days after needing five sets to escape Kennebunk, Cheverus got pushed to the brink again, in an inter-class thriller against Greely, but once again, the Stags had just enough to prevail.
