Gorham baseball could be the team to beat
The sight of Gorham junior ace Hunter Finck preparing to deliver a fastball has struck fear into the heart of opposing batters this spring. Finck, who was just named Maine's Gatorade Player of the Year, and his Rams teammates have ascended to the top of Class A South and are hoping for a deep playoff run. They have all the necessary ingredients for greatness:

Lockdown pitching.

Tremendous defense.

Timely hitting.

And heads-up, aggressive baserunning.

And while Class A South baseball is a gauntlet this spring, with several teams believing they're capable of making a championship run, no one else on balance is as dangerous as the Gorham Rams.

And based on what we've seen during the regular season, these Rams have to be considered the favorite heading into the tournament.

"It's a fun group to be around," said Gorham's third-year coach Ed Smith. "They play the game the right way and work hard every day. It's a good brand of baseball to watch."
