Gorham does just enough to hold off Scarborough to win another Class A state title

SOUTH PORTLAND—The fourth one was the most grueling.

And the most gratifying.

Saturday morning at the HUB Gymnasium on the campus of Southern Maine Community College, Gorham's volleyball team, the state's gold standard over the past three-plus seasons, received everything it could handle and more from rival Scarborough in the Class A state final.

Falling behind early, getting pushed to a decisive fifth set and finding itself even with five points to go.

But one final time, the Rams dug into their unrivaled reservoir of championship heart and found a way to finish the job.

And take home the big prize.

In simply unforgettable fashion.
