GORHAM—Cheverus' volleyball team got to the cusp of a breakthrough victory against longtime nemesis Gorham Tuesday night.

But ultimately, the red-hot, two-time defending Class A champion Rams made just enough big plays at big moments on their home court to stymie the Stags in a compelling showdown/possible playoff preview.
