HHSS Softball Preview: Cheverus hopes to dethrone Windham this time around
Windham captured the Class A softball title in memorable fashion last spring. The Eagles aren't the favorite this season, but they'll use that as motivation and shouldn't be overlooked. File photos unless otherwise indicated.

In 2024, Windham's softball team, the top-seed, reigning state champion and favorite to repeat, was upset by Cheverus in an epic regional final with the Stags going on to capture the Class A state championship.

Last spring, the teams' roles reversed, as the top-ranked, undefeated Stags saw their reign end with a regional final loss to the Eagles, who went on to seize the crown.

This season, Cheverus, which finished 18-1 a year ago, falling 1-0 to Windham in the Class A South Final, returns to the role of favorite, for what it's worth, and the Stags appear poised to take their turn back atop the heap.

The great Addison DeRoche is back for her junior season and she looks to lead Cheverus to the pinnacle for the second time.
