Jones' record-breaking effort paces Portland past Deering

PORTLAND—Cordell Jones now belongs to the ages.

And his Portland Bulldogs continue to excel.

Friday evening at Memorial Stadium, Portland, the reigning Class A state champion, got to battle city rival Deering for just the second time this decade in the regular season and while the Rams gave the Bulldogs fits for the better part of a half, it was just a matter of time before Portland hit its stride.

And before Jones etched his name into program lore.
