NYA awakens, eliminates Vinalhaven in quarterfinals

YARMOUTH—Blame it on an early start time or its opponent arriving late, but the two-time reigning state champion North Yarmouth Academy softball team got off to a sluggish start against Vinalhaven Thursday afternoon at Frank Knight Field.

But the Panthers are only ever one swing away from eruption and after putting the first inning of the teams' Class D South quarterfinal behind them, they roared to life and went on to a decisive victory.

And NYA is now just three wins away from another title.
