South Portland girls fight off Westbrook's upset bid

PORTLAND—Entering the fourth quarter of its Class A South quarterfinal Tuesday afternoon at the Portland Exposition Building, the underdog, sixth-ranked Westbrook girls' basketball team had highly-touted South Portland right where the Blue Blazes hoped.
Fighting for its playoff life, up just two points.
But with the game, and the season, hanging in the balance, the third-seeded Red Riots demonstrated why they're the defending state champion.
And why they hope to hoist a Gold Ball to the heavens again.
