PORTLAND—This time, there was no comeback.

The opponent was simply too strong.

Saturday morning at Memorial Field, on the campus of Deering High School, the North Yarmouth Academy girls' lacrosse team, three days removed from arguably the most inspirational victory in program history, hoped to cap its playoff run with a win over defending state champion Maranacook/Winthrop in the Class C state final.

But this time, the Panthers couldn't rally and they fell one win shy of their ultimate goal.
