Westbrook holds off Scarborough to reach semifinals for first time in ages

WESTBROOK—It's been so long since Westbrook's softball team won a quarterfinal round playoff game that no one could come up with a definitive answer as to the last time it happened.

Thursday afternoon, the Blue Blazes, the No. 3 seed in Class A, hosted No. 6 Scarborough, a team with a 21st Century pedigree like no other, in a contest which took nearly three hours to determine a winner, due to a mid-game thunderstorm, as they continued their magical season with a historic victory.

And they're not close to finished.
