Yarmouth boys need PKs to survive Cape Elizabeth's upset bid in epic regional final

FALMOUTH—After all this time and triumph, it's nearly impossible for Yarmouth's boys' soccer team to do something new.
After all, the Clippers have won more Gold Balls than anyone, including one last fall.
But Wednesday evening, top-ranked Yarmouth had to go somewhere it had never gone before in a compelling Class B South Final against rival Cape Elizabeth, the No. 7 seed.
A penalty kicks shootout.
But like almost every other challenge the Clippers have faced over the years, they passed this unfamiliar test.
And the end result is a return to a most familiar place.
The state championship game.
