Cheverus girls can't catch Kennebunk in the rain

KENNEBUNK—For the first minute of Friday afternoon's showdown, Cheverus girls' lacrosse team had everything going its way at Kennebunk.

But that proved to be the Stags' highwater mark, as the Rams took another step toward the top seed in Class A by taking over the game from there, building a lead and going on to yet another victory.

And while Cheverus did several things well, it knows that a gap still exists between it and the state's elite.

But it's not insurmountable.
