PORTLAND—The 2026 softball season is only a week-and-a-half old, but one thing has become abundantly clear.

The Cheverus Stags stand alone.

Monday afternoon at Shea Field, the Stags coming off wins over contenders Westbrook and Bonny Eagle, hosted reigning Class A state champion Windham and added the Eagles to their list of victims.
