HHSS Girls' Lacrosse Preview: Can Windham, Freeport do it again?
Last spring, for the first time, Windham's girls' lacrosse team ascended to the pinnacle. This year, the Eagles are loaded and hungry to make a repeat run. File photos unless otherwise indicated.

Last season saw a pair of local girls' lacrosse teams earn the crown of state champion.

This spring, there's reason to believe that the song will remain the same as familiar names will be in contention for titles in all three classes.

In Class A, Windham became a first-time finalist and a first-time champion a year ago, capping a program-best 17-1 campaign with a 12-9 victory over Kennebunk in the state final. The Eagles graduated a pair of defenders and the talented Grace Joly, who is having a terrific year at Colby-Sawyer, but plenty of firepower remains and until someone proves otherwise, Windham is again the team to beat.
