GORHAM—There will be no three-peat for North Yarmouth Academy's softball team.

That's because Wednesday afternoon on the campus of the University of Southern Maine, the second-ranked Panthers culminated a 24-hour stretch of frustration with a loss to top-seeded Buckfield.

After holding a 3-1 lead into the third inning Tuesday in the teams' first attempt to determine the region's champion, NYA's bid for victory was dashed when the contest was postponed due to poor field conditions.

Wednesday, the Panthers had their chances to prevail when the game began again, but this time, their magic ran out.
