Cheverus roars back to edge Sanford/Kennebunk in thriller

PORTLAND—Cheverus' field hockey team refuses to lose, but Thursday afternoon at Boulos Stadium, the Stags came pretty darn close to winding up on the wrong end of the scoreboard.

Thanks to a tremendous effort by the visiting Sanford/Kennebunk Spartans.

On three different occasions, Cheverus found itself behind and with a little over 4 minutes remaining, it was still down a goal.

But did the Stags ever finish like the champions they are.

And the beat goes on.

Barely.
