Waynflete girls fall short against powerhouse Wells

PORTLAND—When Waynflete's girls' lacrosse team found itself down by four goals less than four minutes into Friday afternoon's home game versus Wells at Fore River Fields, the Flyers could have easily rolled over and suffered a mercy rule loss.

Instead, after longtime coach Cathie Connors called timeout, Waynflete, a squad with an abundance of freshman, fought back and while they ultimately fell short of victory, the Flyers took a huge step forward in their development while suggesting it's just a matter of time before they're back threatening the top contenders once again.
