SACO—The future is now for the Thornton Academy girls' lacrosse team.

A team that many thought was a year away, instead is now just one win away from the biggest prize of all.

Wednesday evening at Hill Stadium, the second-ranked Golden Trojans took on No. 3 Windham, the reigning Class A champion, in a state semifinal and following a script from earlier this spring, got out to an early lead and went on to victory.

A historic victory.

To say the least.
